Agnese Loss’s cooking blends Piedmontese heritage with her Trentino background, transforming robust, often overlooked ingredients into elegant and harmonious dishes. Offal and freshwater fish take centre stage, offered through three tasting menus: Agnese & Davide, Quinto Quarto (dedicated entirely to offal), and Orto, as well as à la carte choices for more flexible dining. Every element, from starters to desserts, is grounded in local produce, careful technique and a philosophy of “chosen simplicity.” It’s food with depth and delicacy, driven by seasonality and stories worth tasting.

Housed in a converted butcher’s shop, Osteria Contemporanea feels both rooted and intimate, with a simple, elegant style that lets the food take centre stage. The restaurant sits in the heart of Gattinara, a historic town famed for its Nebbiolo-based wines and the Baraggia PDO rice, the only Italian rice with this distinction. Romanesque traces, a medieval town plan and a backdrop of vineyards give the location a timeless charm, perfectly suited to Agnese and Davide’s vision of hospitality.
Quinto Quarto
One of Osteria Contemporanea’s most distinctive offerings is its Quinto Quarto tasting menu, a bold exploration of offal, from appetisers to desserts. Served as a tribute to the restaurant’s former life as a butcher’s shop, this menu showcases how ingredients once dismissed can become refined, expressive and deeply satisfying. It’s a true expression of the restaurant’s philosophy: respect for the whole animal, courage in creativity, and dishes that surprise as much as they comfort.
