Modern French Cooking with a Clear Line

Chef Yorick de Groot cooks from a French base, then pares dishes back so the main ingredient stays in focus. Fresh, bright notes run through the menu, supported by precise sauces and thoughtful textures. Dishes like corn curd with avocado cream and smoked pepper, langoustine tartare with hazelnut and citrus, or Anjou pigeon roasted on the carcass show how he balances richness with lift. There is room for bold ideas, such as melon with bacon ice cream, but never at the cost of taste and balance.

Éclusier can be reserved for private events, from intimate dinners to full exclusive hire. The team works with guests to create a menu that suits the occasion, using the same product-led approach as in regular service. The restaurant also hosts weddings, where the setting on the square and the view of the church add something extra to the day. Service is planned around the flow of the event, with Michelle and Yorick involved in shaping both the food and the timing.

Éclusier is located on Kerkplein in Bloemendaal, a leafy village close to the dunes, coast and the city of Haarlem. Both Yorick and Michelle worked at De Bokkedoorns and later at Restaurant Fris before starting their own place. That background shows in the way the kitchen runs, the way wines are chosen and in the calm of the service. The restaurant aims high, but keeps the tone relaxed, so guests feel they are in capable hands without any stiffness.
